PREPARING STUDENTS FOR A BETTER FUTURE
Founded in 2015, Aawaaz started off as an organisation with a vision to change the way the education was perceived in India. In a country where Board curriculums restrict the students to a cycle of rote memorization and giving exams, Aawaaz started modifying curriculum to make it more interactive. With an initiation in the field of education with a focus on critical thinking, general awareness and public speaking, we started taking classes in various schools, ranging from grade 3rd to 12th grade, with different courses to best suit the grades involved. For the more senior students(grade 9th-12th), we also provided training in the fields of Debate and MUN, to help prepare them for utilising the core skills Aawaaz adopted in competitive spaces.
With a gradual spread to schools in Delhi NCR, with several schools in Gurgaon, Noida and Faridabad alongside Delhi, we were able to execute our curriculum in several different cities like Gwalior, Jaipur, Meerut and Naukuchiyatal. Alongside working in private schools, Aawaaz also recognised the need for co-curricular education in government schools, to generate more interest in the education being provided there. To follow up on this, Aawaaz also undertook several projects with organisations like the Simple Education Foundation and St+Art Foundation to organise programmes and classes for students in government schools, in the fields of Public Speaking, Arts and Crafts, Dance, Music, and Theatre.
However, one organisation cannot possibly bring about large scale change to the system of education by simply holding classes. As we gained more and more experience in teaching students with varying rigour levels, we understood the importance of contextualisation in education systems, alongside understanding the need for a qualitative method for analysing student potential, instead of a standardised and quantitative one.
Aawaaz(previously Project Aawaaz), as of 2019, has expanded to start various functions with one common goal: To make education holistic and accessible to all.
WHAT WE DO
We strongly believe that we cannot create the world that we envision, alone. We need to pool in our efforts and support other initiatives to be able to make a real difference in the world.
Project Patang, an initiative of the Centre for Civil Society works to address the challenge of social and academic integration of children enrolled through 25% reservations under the RTE. In 2016, CCS approached Project Aawaaz to collaborate to provide training in critical thinking, general awareness and public speaking to their students in DPS Vasant Vihar.
JAN KI BAAT DEBATE
Project Aawaaz in collaboration with Jan Ki Baat organised one of Delhi’s first civil society debates that brought together students with the top names in policy and governance on the same platform.The debate envisoned MPs and students engage in dialectic on the pressing issues of our time. The first edition of this debate was “This House Believes that the Union Budget 2016 is a transformative one”
Aawaaz sponsored the “Halla Bol National Debating Tournament”, a Teach for India Fellows’ initiative that aimed to teach students the skills of debating, and give them a platform to express their views.
We have been running a very successful collaboration with Enactus Ramjas. Volunteers and instructors from Enactus have been implementing our curriculum in various low-income shelters across Delhi. Modules on Gender Equality, critical thinking and activities to enhance their Public Speaking skills were implemented in the Lakshyam NGO, JJ Basti!
Chief Executive Officer and Founder
Tarang is an alumni of Hindu College, University of Delhi. He subsequently went on to pursue his M.A. in Education from University of Sussex. Tarang was a Teach for India Fellow, and co-founded Aawaaz with a vision of revolutionising the education system in India.

Chandraditya, an alumnus of Khalsa College, University of Delhi, he finished his master’s in Political Science. He has worked with over 2500 students with the aim to make education accessible and equitable for all.

Zebaish is an alumni of Kamala Nehru College, University of Delhi. She holds a masters in Psychology from the University of Delhi. She is also a professional stage theatre artist.
Facilitation and Curriculum Development
Anushka is an alumni of Jesus and Mary College, University of Delhi. She holds a masters in Psychology from the University of Delhi. She is also a Trained and professional dancer in multiple dance forms.
Manager, Marketing & Development
Vijeeth studies Commerce and Economics at Kirori Mal College, Delhi University. He led the English wing of the Debating Society. He has experience working as a college counsellor at Essai Education.
Abhyudaya is a student at the School of Oriental and African Studies, University of London. Apart from being a student of international relations and politics, He is an avid debater and MUNer.

Mathew studies Economics in Shaheed Bhagat Singh College, University of Delhi. He is a passionate debater, and actively participates in parliamentary debates happening across the country.
